How It Works:

There are several ways Toll Free Numbers work:

1- National coverage. You can receive calls from anywhere in the U. S. and Canada. Most businesses do not need national coverage simply because their clients are mostly within their market area which consists of a few area codes. National coverage is good for companies that have branches all over and they receive calls from anywhere in the country.

2- Coverage by area code. You can receive calls only from specific area code(s). When you sign up for this service, you select the area code(s) from which you expect to receive calls from. This is mostly used by businesses which expect calls from either within their area code or their surrounding area codes. Businesses like auto dealers, lawyers, dentists, contractors and so on.

3- Coverage by Zip code. You can receive calls only from specific zip code(s). When you sign up for this service, you select the zip code(s) from which you expect to receive calls from. This works well for small businesses which have only one or two branches within a few zip codes. Businesses such as pizza parlors, dry cleaners and similar businesses which don’t expect customers calling them from more that a couple of miles away from their place of business.

4- Coverage by area code and prefixes. You can receive calls only from specific prefixes of your selected area code(s). This is mostly used by businesses which have more than one branch in the same area code and want their calls be transferred to the nearest location to the caller. An example would be a chain of pizza parlors with many branches in the same area. When someone calls their toll free number, the call is automatically transferred to their nearest location which is very convenient for the caller and good for the business.
